Transport Aircraft Trading (ISTAT). ISTAT was founded in 1983
to act as a forum and to promote improved communications

Dear Members,
The last couple of months have been a busy time at ISTAT with ISTAT Americas,
the 31st annual conference, in San Diego in March and ISTAT Asia, the 4th annual
conference, in Hong Kong just a few weeks ago.
ISTAT Americas was a resounding success based on the feedback we received
from members. San Diego was a new type of venue for the conference and was
very well-received. We are happy to report that we had a record attendance of
almost 1,700 attendees. Even with the large number of attendees, the spacious
layout of the hotel and new features like the ISTAT Deal Zone made for a very
efficient and enjoyable conference. The Monday evening cocktail reception held
at the USS Midway was a big hit for all those who were able to attend.
It was a pleasure for all of the members to honor our friend and colleague,
Pete Seidlitz, with the ISTAT Award in San Diego. Our cover "selfie" this month
shows the great camaraderie of our organization.
On 4-6 May we met in Hong Kong for ISTAT Asia, which was also a great success.
The conference was held at The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong in Kowloon, which has
the distinction of being the highest hotel in the world, soaring from the 102nd
to 118th floor atop the new International Commerce Center. The conference was
very well-attended and was enjoyed by all of the members.
Now that summer is upon us, we are looking forward to the ISTAT activities at
the Farnborough International Airshow in London in July. ISTAT has two member
benefits during that week. On 14 July, we will hold the ISTAT Reception at the
Grosvenor Hotel, and during the entire airshow, from 14 July until 20 July, members
are invited to use the ISTAT Chalet at the airshow. The chalet has proven to be
a very useful tool for ISTAT members who attend the airshow. Your ISTAT Chalet
committee chairman, ISTAT Treasurer Doug Runte, has worked hard to provide
a very valuable product for the members-the best part is that ISTAT has the
coolest air conditioning on the field and ... ice cream!
In the meantime, please enjoy this expanded issue of Jetrader; it's our largest
issue to date! You will find many articles on industry topics, as well as conference recaps and a conference destination piece on Istanbul. We also have very
interesting articles on aviation history.
We look forward to seeing everyone in London in July and at ISTAT Europe in
Istanbul in September. In the meantime, have a great summer and see you soon!
