Urban Sites

Urban Sites provided the designs and Decal Impressions
printed and installed the graphics, including signage on doors to
stairwells and a trash room - featuring Oscar the Grouch,
naturally. A 93 x 93-inch mural showcases a timeline of the
historic building's past. A 180 x 113-inch graphic depicting a
movie theater audience covers an entire lobby wall and is a nod
to the 40-person screening room that used to be on site. Decal
Impressions printed most of the project components on 3M
Scotchcal IJ40 vinyl with a matte laminate using its HP Latex
360, with the exception of a "not an exit" sign which was output
onto flexible PVC using an EFI Vutek GS3250LX Pro.
Decal Impressions worked on the project over the course
of several weeks, as various components needed to be
installed at different stages of construction. "A difficulty with
an environment like this is waiting on items and areas to be
finished, so we are able to install," says Matt Fisher, marketing director, Decal Impressions. "Because it was an active
construction zone, there was a lot of debris and dust in the
air. We had to make sure all surfaces were clean before
installing graphics."

THE JOB

Urban Sites, a real estate developer in Cincinnati, wanted to
capture the rich movie-making history of their latest building
revitalization project with graphics produced by Decal
Impressions (decalimpressions.com). Located in the city's
burgeoning Over-the-Rhine neighborhood, the Film Center
currently includes luxury apartments and retail space, but it
once housed such film companies as Columbia Pictures and
Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures.
