Industry sales jumped 8.1 percent to reach $624.1 billion, with both motor fuels sales (up 10.1 percent to $450.2 billion) and in-store sales (up 3.2 percent to $173.9 billion) showing growth. —National Association of Convenience Stores Generation teen A challenging economy and low consumer confidence has led to a 14 percent decline in fashion spending, according to the “Taking Stock With Teens” survey published by Piper Jaffray. Spending in the junior apparel category has decreased 19 percent, but increased 9 percent for footwear and 8 percent for accessories. Footwear posted the strongest year-over-year and sequential results at a 4 percent and 21 percent gain, respectively.
