GlobalShop 2013
H
ave you ever been to a tradeshow by yourself? I have. Often. It’s an interesting situation; if you’re at a show the size of GlobalShop, you are surrounded by thousands of people and an endless array of products and services, yet it can feel a little lonely. Unless you know a lot of people when you get there, most of your interactions will involve listening to a speaker or having a conversation with an exhibitor during a product demonstration. Both of these are valuable. They are key reasons for your visit, after all, but the times between can seem a little empty. If you visit a show with a group of your colleagues, like many of our GlobalShop attendees do, you likely won’t suffer from loneliness, but it can sometimes be a little difficult to mingle with new people. It seems a shame to be among thousands of professionals focused on your industry without interacting in a meaningful way. In addition to the great opportunities on the show floor and in the conference program, connecting with your industry is a key reason to attend GlobalShop. We want to make sure we’re doing everything we can to make that happen. In fact, the theme for GlobalShop 2013 is “Retail Connected.” We want to help you connect with the people and products that will help inspire you and advance your career. Here are just a few of the ways that we’ll help you make the right connections at GlobalShop: • GlobalShop Exchange, our buyer-to-supplier matchmaking event. • The A.R.E. Design Awards and POPAI OMA Awards are two great events that bring large numbers of association members together. • The GlobalShop Opening Night Party is THE event that lets you kick back with others in your industry after a busy first day at the show. • Retail Roundtable is a fast-paced, attendee-only gabfest that gives you a chance to meet with your peers and colleagues to discuss the issues of the day. • The new Power Lunch is the ultimate opportunity to meet others. Come on in, we’ll seat you at a table and you do the rest. Just bring plenty of business cards! • New for 2013, the Brand Breakfast features a panel of top brand and CPG leaders discussing what matters in your business. • And a countless number of Tweet-ups! If you’re looking for an impromptu gathering while in Chicago, let others know by including the official hashtag #GS13. Whether you’re coming to GlobalShop solo or bringing the whole fourth floor, come to Chicago expecting to connect. I’ll meet you there!
