But he counts his NSBE membership as one of his most important affiliations. “The different people I met through NSBE alone have been instrumental. I have reaped the fruit of NSBE’s labor,” he says. Freeman’s advice is to make every opportunity a moment to learn something to hone your skills: “Ask questions. Your knowledge and reputation: no one can take that away from you.” Aris Freeman “…It’s good to see yourself making a difference.” — Aris Freeman PAssinG tHe LiMits NSBE member Kyrra Mosley never strives for the norm. Armed with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology, Mosley took the first steps toward an unconventional occupation as a water resources designer responsible for hydrologic and hydraulic design in Jacobs’ North American Infrastructure Group. But even as she climbs professionally, Mosley finds time to do work with Habitat for Humanity, Big Brothers Big Sisters and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., of which she’s a member. Don’t be afraid to look into nontraditional areas, Mosley advises budding engineers: “Research various aspects of engineering. Look outside the box. I never put limitations on myself, and (I) always look forward.” ■ www.nsbe.org LeArninG every DAy Aris Freeman has always enjoyed taking things apart and putting them back together. Now in his fifth year at Jacobs, he wants to broaden his technical and professional experience to become the consummate engineer, “an elite person in this industry whom they can depend on,” he says.
