Davis (left) have waved goodbye to the corporate world to start their own environmental consulting firm, nspiregreen, llc. lundy, Nsbe’s 2004–06 national chair, and davis, Nsbe’s 2004–05 National leadership institute chair, established the company in 2009. born from a desire to reduce and prevent environmental inequities and inspire global environmental stewardship, nspiregreen assists businesses, governments and not-for-profit organizations in developing and implementing their sustainability goals. lundy received her b.s. in environmental science from alabama a&m university and her master’s in civil engineering from florida state university. davis received her b.s. in civil engineering from the university of maryland, college park and a dual master’s in engineering management and urban and regional planning from cornell university. for more information, visit www.nspiregreen.com.

The college of engineering at the university of Tennessee, Knoxville has appointed Nsbe member Travis Griffin as the director of the college’s engineering diversity programs office. griffin is a member of Nsbe’s Knoxville, Tennessee alumni chapter. he has served as a leader and advisor for Nsbe and has received numerous recognitions and honors from the society, including the Nsbe alumni extension National leadership award and the Nsbe region iii ae dedication award, both in 2006. griffin comes to uT Knoxville from Oklahoma state university, where he was coordinator for the multicultural engineering program. he earned his bachelor’s degree in software engineering from mississippi state university in 2004 and a master’s degree in higher education from the university of southern mississippi in 2005.

Gary S. May, Ph.D. received a 2010 Outstanding alumni award in electrical engineering from the department of electrical engineering and computer sciences at the university of california, berkeley. dr. may, a current Nsbe national advisor, former Nsbe national chair and lifetime member of Nsbe, earned his m.s. and ph.d. degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from uc berkeley. he is now the steve W. chaddick chair of the school of electrical and computer engineering at the georgia institute of Technology, his undergraduate alma mater. The Outstanding alumni award recognizes “valuable contributions made by…distinguished alumni for outstanding performance, as evidenced by excellence in some or all of the following areas: research and engineering achievements, leadership in the profession and public affairs, and service and support to uc berkeley.”

Nsbe lifetime member Darrell Porcher is the new director of global Network services for microsoft corporation, in redmond, Wash. he and his peers are responsible for the networking infrastructure of more than 200 of microsoft’s online and cloud services areas, including bing, msN, Windows live, entertainment & devices and Windows azure. porcher, of the san diego alumni chapter, has held many leadership positions with Nsbe, including membership on the alumni executive board, and is a former Nsbe alumni member of the Year. he says he took the job with microsoft after nearly three years of “courtship,” which began when laura Krueger, microsoft diversity staffing manager, met him during the planning of a Nsbe conference hosted by the company. porcher is also pursuing an advanced degree in software and systems at the university of Washington with his wife, who is pursuing her doctorate.
