ristan Walker admired the startup Foursquare so much that he wanted to work there. The Stanford Business School grad student wrote eight e-mails to cofounders Dennis Crowley and Naveen Selvadurai before hearing back from Crowley, who invited him to come to the office if he was ever in New York City. Walker replied, saying he was planning to be there the next day. He then booked a flight from Los Angeles and spent a week at Foursquare’s offices. He talked his way into volunteering for the company and eventually became its director of business development.
