GSI purchases Johnson System Inc.
ASSUMPTION, ILLINOIS, U.S. - Grain Systems Inc. (GSI), a
global brand of AGCO, announced on Sept. 25 that it has purchased
Johnson System Inc. (JSI), a leading manufacturer of catwalks, towers and support structures based in Marshall, Michigan, U.S.
The acquisition includes JSI's manufacturing operation in Marshall and approximately 70 employees, all of whom will be retained
by GSI. Owners Howard and Kathleen Johnson, who founded JSI in
1983, will continue on to assist with the integration process.
"We're very excited about adding JSI to the GSI and AGCO family of companies as it provides us with new growth opportunities
that offer our dealers system solutions to enhance the productivity,
efficiency and profitability of their customers' operations," said Tom
Welke, senior vice-president, GSI, Global Grain and Protein.
"With the acquisition of JSI, we are adding a quality brand with a
reputation for excellent products, customer service and responsiveness," Welke said. In addition to manufacturing catwalks and towers,
JSI also produces temporary storage systems, aeration systems, superstructures, decks, stair systems, grain ladders and numerous other
agricultural products.
"Although differing in size, both GSI and JSI share the same core

values and a common goal to provide top quality global products,"
said Howard Johnson, owner and founder of JSI. "The acquisition allows JSI to have continued growth, ensures long-term sustainability
and provides stability for our employees."
Welke pointed out that JSI's recent growth has been primarily in
the international marketplace, and now with substantial support from
GSI and its parent company, AGCO, continued rapid growth in serving overseas customers is expected.
"We've partnered with JSI on international projects in the past,
and the global reach of our dealer network will greatly increase our
ability to more proactively service the needs of the international markets," Welke said.
JSI will remain a stand-alone business and will be integrated
into the GSI and AGCO operations over a period of time. GSI will
look for opportunities to design GSI and JSI product line offerings that create synergies for ease of construction, manufacturing
and site layout.
"Our acquisition of JSI supports AGCO's vision of providing
high-tech solutions for professional farmers feeding the world,"
Welke added.

AGI donates $100,000 to GeApS, KSu
MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA, U.S. - The Grain Elevator and
Processing Society's (GEAPS) Foundation announced on Oct. 7 that
Ag Growth International (AGI) has made a $100,000 commitment to
the Foundation's Professional Development Programs Endowment
Fund, the largest to date by a grain industry equipment, service or
technology solutions supplier.
"It is in everyone's best interest to develop trusted, credible and reliable training on operational best practices for our industry. It will encourage the next generation of grain system designers and operators to seek
high quality safe and efficient solutions. We at AGI are very proud to
participate in this very creative and worthwhile initiative," said Gary Anderson, president and chief executive officer, Ag Growth International.
"AGI's contribution shows the cooperation and commitment we
see from our grain industry product and service suppliers. By supporting the development of courses for the GEAPS/Kansas State
University (KSU) distance education program, AGI is demonstrating its dedication to the work we do today and how we train the
114

grain industry operations professionals to safely and sustainably feed
the world in the future," said Mark Fedje, GEAPS Foundation board
chair, and terminal elevator maintenance team leader, General Mills.
The foundation has secured a total of $700,000 in commitments.
The GEAPS Foundation is working to raise $4 million over five

money raised will go to the Endowment Fund, which will provide for
the enhancement and expansion of the GEAPS/KSU course offerings.
The program provides online, peer-reviewed CEU courses taught
by grain industry leaders in operations safety and grain quality management, facility design, materials handling, and equipment maintenance. The courses help strengthen the skills of today's workforce
and grow the knowledge of tomorrow's grain industry professionals.
In 2012, the industry's first-ever credentialing program, offering a
Credential in Grain Operations Management (CGOM), was added.
GEAPS has committed $1 million to the fund, $500,000 of which is
dedicated to matching the first $50,000 of each corporate contribution.
