Culture, by contrast, is about how we do it -what we value, how we treat people, and how
we live by chosen principles. Culture is manifested in how people treat each other each day.
It is through culture that strategy is realized.
Culture has enormous impact on a strategy's effectiveness. Every organization's culture
reflects leaders' beliefs about how people should work together to get things done. Whether
intentionally designed or not, culture is the product of years of management decisions about
rewards, structures, and priorities. Our past greatly influences who we are today.
A healthy culture is integral to an organization's success. Building and sustaining healthy
culture requires clear intent and vision from senior leaders; it requires communication and
alignment across layers of leadership and management; it requires stories to be shared and
celebrated that showcase the organization's values; and it requires continuous
reinforcement through actions, experiences, and systems in alignment with your
organization's vision.
