Jim Robison
ACBL Grand Life Master and World Champion Jim
Robison died in his hometown of Las Vegas NV on March
27. Robison's death came from complications suffered
from a serious stroke he experienced in the fall of 2005.
He was 63.
Robison was a professional bridge and poker player. His
bridge titles included the 2004 World Senior Cup (Istanbul),
the North American Swiss Teams (1979, 1990), the Reisinger
Board-a-Match Teams (1984), the Open Pairs (1985) and
the NABC+ IMP Pairs (1998).
He had five second-place finishes in national-level
contests, including the 2005 Vanderbilt Knockout Teams.
Robison's masterpoint total of 17,218 placed him 78th on
the list of all-time masterpoint holders.
Fellow expert Jill Meyers remembered Robison for "his
great sense of humor."
Another expert, Paul Ivaska, agreed: "I'll especially remember three things about Jim. The first two are how he
won the 1979 North American Swiss Teams with a partner,
R. J. Becker, whom he picked up literally at game time, and,
of course, his aggressive, fearless, imitable bidding style.
But, most of all, I'll never forget his delightful, if mischievous,
sense of humor and the wonderful smile that accompanied
it almost to the very end."
Robison is survived by his wife, Carol Pincus, another
world-class player with multiple NABC titles.

Jerry Levitt
Previous national champion Jerry Levitt, of St. Louis MO,
died in March. He was 88.
Levitt was the captain of the victorious Vanderbilt team in
1962. He was also second in the inaugural Grand National
Knockout Teams (1973) and tied for third in the Spingold
Knockout Teams in Denver in 1972.
Levitt was a columnist for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch
for many years and the teacher of hundreds of students in
the St. Louis area.

In order for a deceased member to be listed in In
Memoriam, notification of the death must come from
a family member or from the estate of the deceased.
Notification from a non-family member - e.g., from a
club or unit official - is acceptable only with a copy of
a published obituary. Notification should be sent to Club
and Member Services - not to the Bridge Bulletin.
