The 21st annual ACBL-wide Instant
Matchpoint Game will be held at local
clubs on Wednesday evening, Sept.
19. The contest features one gold
point for section-top winners. The
game also features a booklet with
complete analyses of the deals by
many-time NABC champion Larry
Cohen.
The ACBL-wide Instant Matchpoint Game is the only club event
awarding gold points.
There will be two contests: an Open
Championship and a Secondary
Contest. Club games of five or
more full tables will be included in
the open event. Open games of
14 or more tables may break into
multiple sections of seven or more
tables. The secondary event will be
scored for invitational clubs of five or
more full tables with no masterpoint
restrictions. This event will award .80
gold point to section-top winners.
In stratified games, only the
unlimited top strata will award gold
to section winners. All other awards
are half-red and half-black.
In addition to gold points,
overall and district-wide
masterpoints will be awarded, and first-place winners
receive recognition on
the ACBL web site and
in the Bridge Bulletin.

Transnational teams
The 6th World Transnational Open
Teams will be played in Shanghai, China, alongside the Bermuda
Bowl, Venice Cup and Senior Bowl.
The tournament runs from Sept. 29
to Oct. 13.
The WTOT does not require
pre-qualification (although players
should request nomination from
their national bridge organizations,
e.g., the ACBL), and teams may
be composed of players from any
countries. There are no quotas. The
WTOT will be played in the second
week of the championships.
