Mary L. Goodrich and
Robert C. Goodrich Sr.,
both Life Masters and
avid bridge players, died
on March 30 and June
2, 2010, respectively, in
Chattanooga TN.
Mary and Bob were
leading supporters of the
Chattanooga Bridge Center. Each served as club officers
multiple times. In 1986, Mary chaired the building committee
responsible for the construction of the center's current home.
Duplicate bridge was central to every aspect of their lives; it
provided social contacts, a forum for spirited debates, and
a great source of pride for their accomplishments.
Mary was born in Ann Arbor MI Jan. 22, 1927, and grew
up in Michigan and Wyoming. Bob was born in Gary IN July
16, 1925. He served in the Army Air Corps as a lieutenant/
navigator. They were married in 1946 and moved to Indiana
where Bob graduated from Purdue University with a B.S. in
Chemical Engineering. In 1961, they moved to Signal Mountain TN where they lived happily for 49 years.
Mary and Bob worked side by side at Signal Chemical
Corporation, a company Bob founded to supply chemicals
to the textile industry.
They are survived by daughter Phyllis Jean Goodrich of
Roswell GA, son Robert C. Goodrich Jr., and grandchildren
Bobby, Grace, and Chris of Nashville.
