Director of Marketing Communications
The American Contract Bridge League (ACBL) is seeking qualified candidates to lead our
Marketing Communications group from our Headquarters office in Horn Lake MS. This is a
significant position for a results-driven, highly motivated, positive, creative and curious person who wants to shine and make a difference at the largest bridge organization in the world
that has recently engaged motivated new leadership.
The ACBL's Marketing group is challenged with developing and delivering a comprehensive
marketing plan that effectively supports the organization's mission. These plans are focused
on growing membership and increasing brand awareness of the organization and the game
of bridge in North America.
Position summary
This is a decision-making role that leads an internal marketing group responsible for the
following ACBL core functions: teacher training and accreditation, Youth Bridge, ACBL's webbased programs, creative services, strategic partnerships, data mining, public relations, and
periodical publishing. The director of Marketing Communications is challenged with supporting the ACBL's mission to serve and grow membership while sustaining the game of bridge
through identifying, incorporating, and maintaining the most effective marketing campaigns,
programs and technologies across the organization.
Key role and responsibilities
*	 Develop	and	execute	the	organization's	marketing,	creative	services,	database,	publication and strategic partnership goals in support of ACBL's mission and strategic plan
*	 Strategic	and	operational	budget	planning	and	management	
*	 Manages	and	prioritizes	marketing	projects,	programs,	and	campaigns	to	develop	promotional opportunities and ideas from conception through delivery
*	 Support,	mentor,	and	direct	activities	of:	Education	Program	Manager,	Creative	Services	
Team, Website Team, Editorial Manager and all marketing support and technical staff
*	 Enthusiastic	and	effective	communications	with	all	departments,	senior	management	
and the Board of Directors
*	 Direct	and	manage	all	activities	related	to	media	and	press	relations	to	create	and	maintain positive relations with local and national media
*	 Be	the	final	level	of	approval	(prior	to	the	CEO)	on	all	printed,	spoken,	or	public	materials
*	 Be	prepared	to	provide	interim	progress	reports	on	all	major	projects
*	 Travel	and	attend	ACBL	events	as	required	outside	normal	office	hours
*	 Support	development	and	implementation	of	effective	marketing	tools	for	key	stakeholders, including volunteers, clubs and teachers
Skills, knowledge, education and experience
*	 Undergraduate	degree	in	marketing	or	related	field	required
*	 At	least	five	(5)	years	current	experience	directing/managing	a	marketing	department	
*	 Demonstrated	project	management	and	organizational	skills
*	 Ability	to	deliver	multiple,	large/complex	projects	in	a	team	environment	-	on	time	and	
within budget
*	 Advanced	decision-making	skills	
*	 Proven	communication	and	collaboration	skills:	the	ability	to	analyze,	apply	and	communicate complex marketing issues to a broad audience
*	 Demonstrated	marketing	research	and	evaluation	skills	and	methodology	
*	 Accurate	and	creative	copywriting	skills
*	 Demonstrated	ability	to	develop	strategic	partnership	programs	
*	 Social	media	skills	including	blogging,	Twitter	and	Facebook	as	well	as	familiarity	with	
popular social media applications
*	 Bridge	experience	and	knowledge	not	required,	but	strongly	preferred
