Freeman Mixed Board-a-Match Teams
A late-night score correction from the final of the
Freeman Mixed Board-a-Match Teams promoted Nader
Hanna's squad to first place by a margin of .09. The winners are Hanna, Joan Eaton, Michael Roche and Karen
Cumpstone.
As the Daily Bulletin was going to press on the evening
that the contest concluded, Debbie Rosenberg - a member of the team originally declared the winner of the event
- reported a score correction that cost her team (Richard
Zeckhauser, Joel Wooldridge and Gabrielle Sherman) a
half board, dropping them to second place.
Hanna and Eaton are now three-time NABC champions,
but this is the first NABC win for teammates Roche and
Cumpstone. All members of the squad have many previous
titles from Canadian national championships.
Players should be aware that the Laws forbid competitors from accepting a score to which they are not entitled.
Players who notice an incorrect score after a session
should contact a tournament director as soon as possible.
Rosenberg's actions serve as an excellent model.
