Don't miss this summer's Monumental Event: the North American Bridge
Championships in Washington DC.
With 11 days of exciting bridge contests for all levels of players - world
champs to beginners - it should take
an act of Congress to stop you from
attending.

All events will be played at Marriott
Wardman Park.

Air travel

Parking

Parking for overnight hotel guests is
$28 per day. With advance reservations
(Fred King at dcparking@districtsix.
org), off-site parking at homes of local
players is available for players staying
at the hotel. Daily discounted self-park

regular and handicapped spaces (no inand-out privileges) are available using
daily "chaser" tickets at the Information Desk. Valet parking is $50 per day
minus the discount. For more parking

Child care

The NABC child care program offers
flexible hours for parents plus dozens
of fun and educational activities for
the kids, including field trips and, of
course, learning to play cards. Because
it's affordable, the child care program
makes NABCs vacation destinations
for the entire family.

First-time attendees

Will DC be your first NABC? Get an
advance look at the world of events and
activities offered to maximize your fun
at the tournament by visiting acbl.org
and selecting the Washington DC banner. From there, click on the Just for
Newcomers link to find the "Welcome
to the NABCs" booklet. In addition
to good info for first-time attendees,

there is a section for Intermediate/
Newcomer players.

Intermediate/Newcomer
Program

In addition to friendly bridge games
and free lessons, the Washington I/N
Program features special goodie bags,
snacks, table gifts, guaranteed partners
and photo opportunities for winners.
A unique feature of the DC NABC is
Bridge University, a series of 45-minute courses offered by local teachers
on Saturday morning, July 23. The
day starts with a one-hour lecture by
nationally known expert Jerry Helms.

Newcomers" section on the Washington NABC page.

Schedule clarification

The requirements for the Young
0-1500 Pairs that starts on Friday,
July 22, was changed by recent Board
action. Players do not have to be Life
Masters to participate in this contest.
The LM requirements for the Bruce
LM-5000 Pairs and the von Zedtwitz
Life Master Pairs are still in effect.
