Now's the time to show it! Perhaps your teacher has
enthusiasm and passion for bridge, and you and your fellow
students would like the world to know. Nominate them for the 2018 American Bridge Teachers' Association (ABTA) Teacher of the Year award.
We are looking for individual teachers who present student-appropriate
materials in a lively, unique style and who contribute to the growth of
bridge in their local communities and schools. This is the teacher who is
always on top of the material and regularly brings new ideas and theories
into the classroom for students' consideration. This is the teacher who
makes learning easy and fun.
Since 2010, the ABTA, in conjunction with Master Point Press, the
world's largest publisher of bridge books and e-books, has celebrated excellence in bridge teaching through the annual Teacher of the Year award.
Students may nominate their teacher by completing the online student
nomination form. Teachers must also submit the teacher nomination form.
Both forms are available at abtahome.com. Student and teacher nominations and materials are evaluated based on:

Teacher excellence (55%)
Innovation (25%)
Service to bridge (15%)
Service to the community (5%)

The winner receives a cash award and engraved plaque, which will be
presented during ABTA's annual conference in Atlanta in July 2018 during
the ACBL Summer NABC.
The 2018 Award Selection Committee, chaired by Richard Braunstein
from Lancaster PA, comprises: Mary Jane Orock, Fort Worth TX; Joyce
Penn, Columbus OH; Tina Radding, Charlotte SC; Enid Roitman, Toronto
ON; Barbara Seagram, Toronto ON; Kathie Walsh, Hilton Head SC; and
Linda Lee, Toronto ON.
