Milton Rosenberg 1944-2020

Three-time NABC champion Milt
Rosenberg died April 23 from cancer.
Rosenberg, 75, won the 1978 Grand National Teams Championship Flight, the
1980 Mitchell Open BAM Teams and the
1984 Jacoby Open Swiss Teams.
Howard Weinstein, longtime friend and
fellow expert, said, "Though largely inactive
from competition for too many years, Milt
was a terrific bridge player. He was a fixture of Chicago bridge,
with Hall of Famers Billy Rosen and Ralph Katz among others as
regular partners." Ralph added he was a great player and partner, as well as a mentor to him, something also expressed by
Joe Stokes.
Weinstein said, "I had the opportunity to play with Milt for
a year or so as a regular partnership in the early '90s before he
semi-retired from tournament bridge, playing only a few times
after that. Milt was a very accurate player, rarely making an
unforced error. We made a cameo reappearance in the 2012
Lederer Cup in London with teammates John Carruthers and
Joey Silver, and we promptly drove him back into retirement.
"Milt was brilliant. He was the chief brain power behind a
small options trading firm in Chicago which he built into a very
successful business. The company employed a few bridge players along the way. Milt was about 46 years old when he retired.
"For many years Milt and Sharron have split their time, summering in the Chicago suburb of St. Charles, with winters spent
near Lecanto FL near Tampa. Milt loved puzzles, was an avid
collector, and an enthusiastic golfer. He will be terribly missed."
Rosenberg is survived by wife Sharron, three sons, and several grandchildren.
