Shanbrom Ace of
Clubs Winners
The Helen Shanbrom Ace of Clubs contest recognizes achievement at the club
level. The contest is named in honor of
Shanbrom, a Grand Life Master from
Tamarac FL, who won her category 20
times. Shanbrom died in 2013.
Only masterpoints won at clubs are
counted for these races. The totals
exclude points won in Sectional
Tournaments at Clubs. Unpigmented
online points, such as from robot games,
are not included.
The top 25 scorers in each category
are listed. Point totals have been
rounded to the nearest whole number.

his club in Romania,
Gyula rejoined the
ACBL in May. He
played frequently
as a substitute,
which afforded
the opportunity to
play more than he
otherwise would.
" Mostly I played with
casual partners,
and I think that I
earned those points
by playing a lot, not
necessarily very well. "
He aims to make
Life Master playing
exclusively online.

Sohn was just getting back into bridge after years away when the
pandemic hit. She began playing daily in virtual club games, mostly with a
regular partner in the large clubs in Palm Springs and Dallas. " The online
games have helped overcome the loss of some of the activities which
we normally would have done and it is greatly appreciated, " she said. " I
miss our bridge friends, the table banter and the food and look forward to
eventually being able to be back at the table face-to-face.
