Lopez played a key role in the
acquisition of Fuse by its Latino-led
management group late last year. It's
personal for the exec, who has been instrumental in upholding
the company's commitment to champion authentic voices and
representation for underserved audiences, especially the Latino
community. She leads all national and local advocacy efforts
at Fuse, regularly working with UnidosUS, Hispanic Federation,
Congressional Hispanic Caucus members and other Hispanic
and grassroots orgs. She played a major role in launching Fuse's
" Be Change " call-to-action initiative and its series of special
town hall programs. Via these efforts, Lopez helped launch a
campaign last summer with Climate Power 2020 and Stacey
Abrams to show the disproportional impact of climate change
on communities of color and an expansion of Fuse's partnership
with Voto Latino focused on voter registration and participation
in the Latino community. " Now is the time for DEI 2.0, which
includes measurement and rewarding success on achieving
diversity and inclusion goals, " she says. " We have to ask
ourselves: did our efforts make for real change or do we need to
examine how and where we need to adjust and move fast? "
Yuling Ma

Company
It's been less than a year since Ma
began steering FreeWheel, but she's
used that time to the fullest. The company rolled out a new
technology in April that allows sellers to deliver video advertising
on an addressable basis across platforms using aggregated,
de-identified data. Charter and Comcast jumped on board to
pilot the technology. FreeWheel also has continued building new
partnerships and was tapped by Fox to enable programmatic
sales of addressable VOD advertising on set-tops. Ma gives a
lot of credit to the teams around her for the company's achievements.
She sincerely believes that anything is possible if you
have the right people in your court, and actively encourages
those she mentors to pursue careers based on their passions.
" The openness starts with upper-level management team, " she
says. " Encourage people to bring up different ideas and create
more open feedback channels. For instance, FreeWheel has a
weekly global check-in with the opportunity for employees to
ask questions directly. "

Having already developed and
adopted new workplace protocols to
ensure all Charter employees could work safely from home or in
the field, Manley and her team are going beyond merely complying
with emergency orders and governmental mandates. They
are proactively responding to lingering uncertainties and risks
posed by the ongoing pandemic, and adapting safety policies as
needed-especially in regard to employees and family members
who may have high-risk medical conditions. Keeping all
employees healthy is paramount, but so is having a diverse and
inclusive workforce. " This is an important tenet for Charter Communications
as well, and holds true in the employees we hire
and the professional services firms with which we engage, " she
says. " I think it's important to look in both traditional and untraditional
places for candidates, and once you have this wonderful,
diverse mix of talent, make sure that you provide guidance and
serve as an advocate to help them move forward. "
Ignacio Meyer

Univision Communications
The newly-promoted Meyer heads
up the development and production
of Univision's non-scripted content, spanning everything from
entertainment specials, reality shows, and daily variety shows
to tentpole events like the Latin Grammy Awards (which earned
Univision a 2020 International Emmy for Outstanding NonEnglish
US Primetime Program). Meyer also oversaw one of TV's
first live awards show during the pandemic, " Premios Juventud, "
and the COVID-safe production of the reality show " Tu Cara
Me Suena, " which outperformed ABC, FOX, and The CW among
adults 18-34 when it premiered in October 2020. " As a missiondriven
company-to entertain, inform, and empower the
Hispanic community-Univision has always championed these
causes and has a long-standing history of giving a voice to an
underserved and underrepresented community, " he says. " We
