president of a business network. Since
then, she's boosted ratings 30% through
new programming initiatives, introduction
of the new " Invested in You " tagline, and
creation of a more uplifting primetime
slate focused on real estate, ingenuity and
the American workforce. Active in talent
development for FOX News Media as
well, Petterson strives to elevate women
to assume more prominent roles at the
company. To women re-entering the
workforce, she says, " Find good mentors
at the office. Look for people you admire
and you can learn from. In return, they will
advocate for you. "
Michelle
Rice
President
TV One & CLEO TV
Named president
in October 2020,
Rice is committed to setting a new vision
for the TV One Networks that includes
elevating new voices in the Black community
while also establishing a dynamic
work culture and strong financial growth.
She continues to seek out new carriage
for CLEO TV, which counts AT&T, Charter,
Comcast and Verizon among its MVPD
partners. Last year, she helped guide TV
One to its first vMVPD distribution deal
with Philo TV. Rice says that her boss
Urban One CEO Alfred Liggins has been a
champion for her since she began working
in sales at the network's inception.
" He knew I could lead the network to
strengthen partnerships, develop strategic
alliances and expand distribution for
both TV One and CLEO TV-all of which
has uniquely positioned our networks to
navigate the changing broadcast environment
and catapult them to even greater
success, " she says.

Productions
" The industry is
certainly better than it was... but still not
quite where it needs to be, " says ScottYoung,
who believes Monami Productions
is at the forefront of " kicking in ceilings
to provide greater voice and visibility
for Black and Brown people who might
not otherwise be heard or seen. " The
company's " Love & Hip Hop " franchise
continues to draw eyeballs and spinoffs
on VH1 in the unscripted space, and
Scott-Young is embedded on new projects
with OWN, BET, Lifetime and others as she
stretches production boundaries across
the continent of Africa. In addition to her
robust development slate, she continues
to manage multiplatinum rapper, singer
and songwriter Missy Elliott as part of
Monami Entertainment.

Magical Elves
Together with coCEO
Casey Kriley,
Sharon has made
it a priority to push for diversity, equality
and inclusion both within the Magical
Elves staff and across its content slate,
which includes the " Top Chef " franchise
and Netflix's " Nailed It! " Magical Elves is
proud to claim a majority-female leadership
team. A full 75% of the cast and talent
on the firm's shows are women and/or
people of color, and 50% are a part of the
LGBTQ+ community. In addition, the studio
has partnered with HUE You Know, a BIPOC
community organization, and signed onto
industry staffing service Staff Me Up's DEI
Initiative. " We have seen first-hand the
effects that diverse representation in leadership
roles can create within our company
and across our shows, and we are committed
to continue these efforts, " she says.
Stacey
Slaughter

Talk about a power
move. When the
company Slaughter had been part of for
nearly 20 years went up for sale, she
didn't wait around to see what's next. She
bought it herself-financing the deal on
her own. That was six years ago, and it's
only been up from there for Slaughter and
the broadband training company she runs.
A key to her success has been NCTI's
constant adaptation. As the pandemic
shifted how the industry conducts business,
she shifted NCTI's approach. One
example is the launch this year of courses
in management/HR management, computer
applications and finance. Slaughter
advises those looking to re-enter the
workforce to maximize their networks and
stay current with their field and technology.
" Invest time in your own development.
Not only will it show your commitment
to a prospective employer, but it also
improves your confidence, " she says.

Streaming Food
Content
Discovery, Inc
White is a storyteller whose main subject
happens to be food. Beyond developing
innovative food-centric content for
discovery+, Food Network, Cooking
Channel, their websites, social platforms
and even Food Network Magazine, she's a
trusted leader who builds strong relationships
with talent and business partners
alike. That trust proved vital during the
pandemic, and no doubt helped keep the
programming pipeline full throughout
lockdown. She understands the importance
