THE WHY? Powell, inducted into the Cable Center's Cable Hall of Fame in
September, has never been afraid to push NCTA's members to do more to
combat inequality and develop a diverse pipeline of talent. One component of
equality for all is universal broadband, with the NCTA chief working tirelessly
to ensure lawmakers understand the fine details behind deployments.
HE SAYS... " There is no doubt that our industry sets an example of what
DEI efforts should look like. We are one of the few to have an annual weeklong
event-Diversity Week-dedicated to this issue. Our members have doubled
down their efforts over the past decade to not only hire and recruit more
women and people of color, but to ensure they are receiving the necessary
professional development for leadership positions. And on screen, TV productions
are increasingly ensuring that more underrepresented groups have
equal representation. "
