to 9%, and showrunners 0% to 13%
since the playbook's inception. She's
established partnerships with organizations
including the Latino Film
Institute, IllumniNative and the Coalition
of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment
to create industry opportunities
for underserved communities.

investments in minority- and women-owned
businesses have been
substantial. They have committed
$30 billion to advancing racial equity. "

THE WHY: Named to her post in
2021, Godwin is the first Black woman
to lead a major U.S. broadcast
news network. She champions bold
storytelling through an inclusive,
representative slate of streaming
programming via ABC News Studio,
including " Soul of a Nation " and the
Colin Kaepernick-produced " Killing
County. " Internally, she has prioritized
building a diverse team that
reflects and represents the ABC
News audience and actively seeks
out new hires through dedicated
journalists of color associations.
SHE SAYS... " I often say diverse
talent does not just fall out of the
sky when you need them. You must
sincerely invest your time and effort
in connecting with diverse groups
all the time. "
FIRST JOB IN THE INDUSTRY:
It was at the local ABC affiliate in my
college town, so my current ABC job
is a full-circle moment.
