long-term HR strategy,

organizational development,
employee relations and diversity and inclusion.
For her achievements in diversity-of which
there are many-she most recently received
the Diversity Champion Award from NAMIC's
Mid-Atlantic chapter in September of this year.
People strategy aside, Douglas enjoys travel,
sampling the world's best spas and visiting
model homes for decorating ideas.
Ellen East
EVP/Chief Communications
Officer, Time Warner Cable
As TWC's communications
chief, East provides
strategic counsel on companywide
PR, corporate
communications and industry affairs. The past
12 months have been particularly demanding,
as she set overall communication strategy
and key messaging for the company and its
senior management during several protracted
retrans negotiations, including with Sinclair.
Additionally, when TWC became the first in
cable to launch an iPad app for subscribers,
East orchestrated communications strategies
during sometimes tense discussions with
several major TV programmers.
Susie Fogelson
SVP, Marketing & Creative
Services, Scripps Networks
Interactive
Fogelson played a major
role in the launch of Cooking
Channel and has a
hand in marketing and creative services for
Food Network, too. She is crucial to both
nets' strategy of cultivating new opportunities
through recycling established talent with new
shows and bringing in popular food bloggers.
Moreover, she helped create Food Network's
Good Food Gardens initiative, which promoted
nutrition education to children.
Marissa Freeman
SVP, Brand Strategy and
Marketing Communications,
Time Warner Cable
Freeman has had an
exhaustive-and exhausting-year.
Namely, she
spearheaded the relaunch of the TWC brand
across its 28-state footprint, including a comprehensive
brand refreshment program with a
CableFAX: The Magazine
new look and messaging aimed at positioning
the company as more of a lifestyle and entertainment
brand. If that's not enough, she also
was a key member of the team that launched
SignatureHome for residential customers,
led marketing negotiations with the NBA,
MLB, NHL, Fox Sports and NASCAR, and
spearheaded the top-performing ad campaign
for both the general and Hispanic consumer
categories for the company.
Laura Galietta
SVP, Ad Sales Marketing, Scripps
Networks Interactive
Galietta's team is responsible
for strategic and
creative marketing development
to support ad sales
efforts, such as product integration and custom
programming. She's most proud of the
people she's worked with over the years at
TCM, Nat Geo and now Scripps. " I have had
the good fortune to work with leaders who
are not only the best in the business but who
have led by example and inspired, mentored
and encouraged me to be all that I can be. "
Stephanie Gibbons
EVP, Marketing and On-Air
Promotion, FX
Heard of all the cool shows
on FX recently? Probably.
And for that, you've largely
got Gibbons to thank. She
leads the creation of print and electronic
marketing and ad campaigns for FX. As
an added bonus, the team this year won
its first Marketing Team of the Year Award
from Promax/BDA Award. Another form of
recognition came from the Gay & Lesbian Alliance
Against Defamation (GLAAD), for FX's
marketing of LGBT-friendly programming,
overseen by Gibbons.
Tanya Giles
EVP, Strategic Insight and
Research, MTV Networks
Giles leads strategic planning
and research for MTV
Networks. Her research
has informed marketing
strategies for hits like " Tosh.O, " a move toward
greater HD penetration, TV Land's " Hot
in Cleveland, " and Spike's shift toward an
older male demo. She's proud of the role her
research has played, but this little tidbit puts
Tanya in perspective: " On a personal level,
giving birth to my son in the back of a NYC
taxi cab during a rainstorm remains a favorite
proud moment. After that, I learned how to roll
with the punches, no matter what. "

Rebecca Glashow

Discovery Communications
Glashow is the leading force
behind Discovery's digital
distribution strategy. As TV
Everywhere capabilities
continue to evolve, she'll continue to develop
agreements with operators while leveraging the
company's digital assets across mobile and
VOD as well. This year, Glashow was picked for
Discovery's Executive Leadership Development
Program, comprised of its most promising talent.
Melani Griffith
SVP, Programming and Video
Services, Insight Communications
Griffith leads Insight's negotiating
team for programming
and retrans contracts
and manages digital video.
This year she headed up the launch of 100 HD
channels. A fierce negotiator, Griffith has been
key to Insight's growth in the past five years.
Beyond the 9-5, she's passionate about breast
cancer awareness and was the second-highest
fundraiser for the Woodland Hills, CA, Relay for
Life cancer event. But what's her favorite thing?
" Reading 'Goodnight Moon' for the 87,598th
time to my twin 16-month-old daughters
snuggled on my lap. "
Kellie Grutko
VP, Marketing, Comcast Spotlight
The highest-ranking woman
at Comcast Spotlight, Grutko
spearheads marketing,
which covers advertising,
branding, creative services,
event planning and more. Recent marketing
initiatives include the launch of I+, an ad platform
across cable, telco and satellite households, and
a partnership with advertising industry trades to
create buyer and client-targeted emails, videos
and Webcasts. How does she keep up? " Our
industry is extremely innovative and creative, and
in order to succeed, one needs to keep pace
with this fast-moving world, embrace it, and find
ways to make these innovations easy to understand
in the minds of our advertisers. "

Hetzel leads Rentrak's media
measurement and analytic
