More of the Most Powerful Women in Cable 2014
Friday Abernethy
SVP, Content
Distribution
Univision
In April, Abernethy left
TVGN (soon to be Pop)
and joined Univision,
handling distribution
for the company's linear nets, including new
English-language channel El Rey. She also manages
Univision's digital offerings, including UVideo and
its TV Everywhere products. Her tip for maintaining
personal-professional life balance? " It's not the
amount of time you invest but the ability to being
truly present in the moment, " she says.
Orly Adelson
President
ITV Studios America
This Emmy winner is
capping a banner year.
Adelson became ITV
president in January
after leaving her post of
head of Dick Clark Productions, and she set to work
scripting a string of successes. Highlights include a
25 percent increase in the project slate during her
fi rst six months, and the launch of two straightto-series
projects- " The Good Witch " and " Texas
Rising " -that assert ITV's role in scripted space.
Unscripted continues to thrive with signature shows
" Hell's Kitchen, " " Kitchen Nightmares " and " The First
48, " plus new shows and spinoffs. When not in the
offi ce Adelson can be found hiking, checking out a
gallery or unsurprisingly " in my home offi ce reading
books and scripts. "
Theano Apostolou
EVP, Communications
Starz
Apostolou's known for
her fi erce work ethic as
she makes sure the independent
Starz gets its
due. " I think it's important
to accept that your work IS part of your personal
life. We work in an industry we love, and if we don't
integrate it into our lives, it becomes a source of
stress, " she says. That said, she highly recommends
an email detox on Sunday mornings.

Entertainment
Studios Networks
Arouh leads distribution,
deals, marketing,

Arbogast
SVP,
Sheryl Anderson
EVP, Human
Resources and

Starz
With Starz now a public

one of the execs helping
the company adjust to its new status. She also helps
the industry's HR initiatives as a whole, serving as
president of the Cable Television Human Resources
Association. In her free time, you'll most likely fi nd
her outdoors-hiking, camping, fi shing or antiquing
and exploring Colorado and American History.
Global Public Policy
Comcast
Arbogast's reputation,
industry insight and
business knowledge are
proving valuable when it
comes to informing academics and thought leaders
about the company's position on the Time Warner
Cable merger. Yet she says broadband's growth is the
biggest story this year. " Cable has pushed ahead in
leading broadband deployment, which is the foundation
for American leadership in the Internet economy. "
Elizabeth Asencio
SVP, Client Relations
& Marketing
Operations,
Content Distribution
NBCUniversal
Asencio successfully
drove value for the XXII
Olympic Winter Games and other marquee events.
Her Cuban background and keen understanding of
the U.S. Hispanic market have helped Asencio delve
into the company's Hispanic efforts, including the
rebranding of mun2. " Finding a passion and utilizing
my expertise to obtain that success at all levels,
whether big or small, is invaluable, " she says.
ness opportunities and negotiations for Entertainment
Studios Networks' seven HD cable networks.
On the latter, she's been on a tear as of late, having
just secured a multiyear distribution agreement to
deliver its 24/7 Comedy.TV network to Suddenlink
subs. Her thoughts on how cable can do better
at supporting women: " Drop the ladder by hiring
and promoting women to lead departments and
ultimately organizations. "
Stephanie Anderson
SVP, CMO - Business
Services
Time Warner Cable
Anderson has helped
bring revenue growth
to Time Warner Cable
Business Services as
she helped solidify its reputation, focusing on small,
medium and enterprise customers as well as vertical
markets, such as government and education. She's
leading TWC toward its goal of generating $5 billion
in revenue in business services by 2018. She defi nes
success as " continuously learning and striving for
improvement, and being the person that people
WANT to work with. "

Arias' dedication to making
Comcast a workplace
that refl ects the diversity
of the world around it is
getting noticed. In 2014, the Greater Philadelphia

its Diversity & Inclusion Award. Arias says, " If I know
I helped advance diversity and inclusion for women,
people of color, veterans, people with disabilities,
employees of all ages, and for people of every sexual

ultimate sense of accomplishment. "
