apital equipment prices,
as reflected in the CE
Plant Cost Index (CEPCI),
decreased slightly from August
to September, the first
decrease since May of this
year and only the second
decrease in a year. Typically,
the CEPCI increases over the
first half of a year, peaking
in mid-late summer, and then
decreases through year end.
The atypical performance
is a continuation of the
economic recovery from the
2008-2009 recession.
