Gevo and LG Chem to jointly
develop bio-based propylene
April 13, 2023 - Gevo, Inc. (Englewood,
Colo.; www.gevo.com) and LG Chem
Ltd. (Seoul, South Korea; www.
lgchem.com) have entered into a joint
development agreement to develop
bio-based propylene as a feedstock
for renewable chemicals using Gevo's
ethanol-to-olefins (ETO) technology.
Together, the parties will collaborate to
accelerate the pilot research, technical
scaleup and commercialization of
bio-based propylene.
TotalEnergies to sell
three resin product lines
April 11, 2023 - TotalEnergies S.A. (Paris,
France; www.totalenergies.com) has
accepted an offer from Pacific Avenue
Capital Partners for the acquisition of
three product lines (Wingtack, PolyBD
and Dymalink) developed by Cray
Valley, its resin production and sales
affiliate. The transaction includes four
production sites in the U.S., the Cray
Valley Italy affiliate and the portfolio
of customers.
Kuraray, PTTGC and Sumitomo
jointly open plant in Thailand
April 10, 2023 - Kuraray Co. (Tokyo;
www.kuraray.com) is partnering with
PTT Global Chemical (PTTGC; Bangkok,
Thailand;
www.pttgcgroup.com)
and Sumitomo Corp. (Tokyo; www.
sumitomo.com) to open a manufacturing
plant located in Thailand's Rayong
Province to produce the engineering
plastic polyamide 9T (PA9T), as well as
hydrogenated styrenic block copolymer
(HSBC). The manufacturing plant has
a manufacturing capacity of 13,000
m.t./yr for PA9T and 16,000 m.t./yr
for HSBC.
Evonik to sell business assets in
Lülsdorf and Wesseling
April 10, 2023 - Evonik is selling its site
in Lülsdorf, Germany, and the associated
cyanuric chloride business in Wesseling,
Germany, to International Chemical
Investors Group (ICIG, Luxembourg).
With this sale, Evonik will completely
divest the production of potassium
derivatives and cyanuric chloride, which
takes place exclusively in Lülsdorf
and Wesseling.

Ineos completes acquisition of
Mitsui Phenols Singapore
April 5, 2023 - Ineos Ltd. (London;
www.ineos.com) acquired the entire
asset base of Mitsui Phenols Singapore
Ltd. from Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. (Tokyo;
www.mitsuichemicals.com) for a
total consideration of $330 million.
The business produces over 1 million
m.t./yr of product, including cumene
(410,000 m.t./yr), phenol (310,000
m.t./yr), acetone (185,000 m.t./yr),
alpha-methylstyrene (20,000 m.t./yr)
and bisphenol A (150,000 m.t./yr).
Lanxess and Advent complete
foundation of Envalior JV
April 3, 2023 - A new materials joint
venture, Envalior, has been launched
following the acquisition by Lanxess
AG (Cologne, Germany; www.lanxess.
com) and private-equity firm Advent
International of the Engineering Materials
business of Royal DSM N.V. (Heerlen,
the Netherlands; www.dsm.com).
Envalior consists of three divisions:
