Magnet separator for
poorly flowing powders
The recently developed 10,000-Gauss,
rotating cleanflow magnet (photo) filters
magnetic and paramagnetic particles
out of poorly flowing, greasy powders
in the food, pharma and chemical industries.
The magnet rotor is composed
of seven strong magnet bars,
equipped with neodymium-iron-boron
magnets, each with a diameter of 32
mm. This is 40% thicker than regular
magnetic bars and also that used by
the magnet manufacturer. The magnetic
separator is suitable for free-fall
lines and captures both iron and AISI
304 and AISI 316 particles as small as
30 µm from cocoa or milk powder, for
example. The separator is available in
three sizes, of which the largest model
is suitable for product flows of up to

A smart interface for this vacuum
pump series
The HiScroll series (photo) consists
of three dry and hermetically sealed
scroll pumps with a nominal pumping
speed of 6-20 m3/h. These vacuum
pumps are characterized not only by
their high performance when evacuating
against atmosphere, but also
by their very high energy efficiency
that reduces their carbon footprint.
The company is now introducing its
intelligent new accessory interface
AccessLink, which permits the use of
a wide range of optional accessories.
Its presence is automatically detected
by the HiScroll's electronics. Before
this, accessories had to be configured
by hand. A uniform accessory
interface of this kind enhances convenience
and safety during operation.
A new gas-ballast valve detects the
specific process requirements automatically.
The valve is controlled by
the vacuum pump, either according
to a specific time interval or depending
on the inlet pressure, in conjunction
with an additional accessory,
the HiScroll integrated sensor RPT
010. The automatic gas-ballast valve
can also be switched manually by a
higher-level controller connected to

PID sensors for measurement of
VOCs and particulate matter
Photoionization detection (PID) is a
recommended technology for detecting
volatile organic compounds (VOCs)
in many applications, such as environmental
monitoring, industrial health
and safety, air quality, facility/site monitoring
and fugitive emissions. One of
the unique features of this company's
MiniPIDs (photo) is a patent-protected
design with a third electrode that
overcomes humidity interference, delivering
a stable signal from 0 to 99%
relative humidity (RH). The sensitivity of
PID sensors is extremely important in
many applications, particularly where
the sensors are deployed in the measurement
of trace VOCs. The NextPM
sensor was recently added to the
company's portfolio. The NextPM sensors
show strong to very strong correlations
for both PM1.0 and PM2.5 with
reference instruments costing several
hundred times the cost of the sensors,
