can step in at times when surgeons
are not adhering to conduct and help
them to course correct. " That's the approach
we have taken at Vanderbilt for
many years, " said Webb. " We have supported
many other hospitals and medical
groups across the country to implement
this same approach. We call it the
professionalism pyramid, and it starts
with a single concern. "
But while the data may seem grim,
Webb said he sees hope for organizations
that heed a culture of safety and
respect. " The good news is the majority
of healthcare professionals can selfregulate, "
said Webb during his presentation.

feedback through stories and data, they
will more than likely reflect on that feedback
