vendors that were quick to cut supply
lines when local demand rose. Fostering
a diverse pool of vendor options is
key for a healthy supply chain, he said
before offering some long-term management
tactics that can be used when
courting new vendors:
* demand pricing transparency in the
face of rising costs; organizations
like ECRI offer general pricing markers
that can help inform leaders of
what to expect before approaching a
new supplier
* transition from a reactive to a proactive
approach; expect that disruptions
will happen instead of waiting
for a supply shortage before acting
* focus on digital transformation and
artificial intelligence; manually pulling
the data needed for more informed
conversations with non-traditional
suppliers is inefficient.
In the spirit of building better relationships
with healthcare vendors, the
conference also featured several sponsored
breakfasts and luncheons, two of
which featured software solutions company
LeanTaaS following their acquisition
of competitor Hospital IQ. Partnering
with two of their clients, UCHealth
and OrthoNebraska, LeanTaaS educated
the audience on how patient satisfaction,
perioperative performance,
and the bottom line improved after their
case-length accuracy and dynamic block
management tools were implemented
at the prior-mentioned facilities.
Networking still a conference
hallmark
The heart of the OR Business Management
Conference remains the easy
and effortless venues for networking.
Several networking breaks were interspersed
over the 3 days, with two main
social activities standing out.
The conference's first social event,

reception with small plates and cocktails at the OR Business Management
Conference.
Moon River Brewing Company and Savannah Haunted Pub Tour offered a spooky
night out of sightseeing away from the conference center.

Golf Resort & Spa, provided the
right atmosphere for attendees, exhibitors,
and sponsors alike to mingle
and begin forming partnerships. The
following evening, select attendees
got to enjoy a beautiful, history-filled
night out that started with dinner and
drinks at the Moon River Brewing Company,
housed in one of the oldest and
most haunted buildings in Savannah,
and ended with a stroll and a bar crawl
around " America's most haunted city. "
This year's gathering again saw a
good number of first attendees-we
hope to see those return to our next OR
Business Management Conference, to
be held on February 6-8, 2024, at the
Renaissance Glendale Hotel & Spa in
Phoenix, Arizona, where newcomers and
return attendees alike will again find the
resources they need to improve operations
at their facilities.
