patient conditions. Understanding the
impact of sex and gender in MSK conditions
and treatment responses, as well
as monitoring pediatric patients, can
help assess the impact of MSK diseases
early on.
According to Clarke, the whole design
around reporting also needs to be
reconsidered. A kitchen sink mentality,
where more data is seen as better, is
actualy counterproductive. " The data
has to be created by busy clinicians
who are rightfully more interested in
their patients than they are in providing
data for administrative purposes, " says
Clarke. Consideration of clinicians' time
constraints and pressures can make
them more engaged and open to constructive
feedback. As a result, reporting
will become more effective and intelligent.
Getting
PROs more frequently is also
an important consideration. Syed suggests
capturing data that has never
been captured before. For example, how
much load is the patient putting on their
knee postoperatively, or what are the
reasons for visiting their primary care
physician immediately following surgery?
This type of information can help
unlock new insights into patient care.
" Remote monitoring platforms such as

win for data collection, " says Syed.
Starting in 2025, any hospital under
the Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting
(IQR) program will be required to collect

to report the data will result in a reduction
in the percentage increase on annual

and comprehensive data has never
been more critical for better quality and
tailored care. Proper data reporting not

but also empowers patients to
make informed decisions about their
care.
In the future, as the requirement to
collect and report PROs becomes standard
practice in hospitals, patient engagement
and successful outcomes
are expected to improve. Data reporting
is not just a means to an end; it is a
transformative trend that is shaping the
future of patient care, research, and
healthcare policy and should be driving
continuous improvement in caring
for complex cases such as MSK conditions.
