A recent study from the Princeton Andlinger Center
concluded that the grid needs to double by 2035 and
triple by 2050 to support the required renewable integration
and load growth from electrification. The scale
of growth and short timeframe is incompatible with
traditional capital-intensive methods of expanding
transmission capacity, which take 5-10 years. This isa
discussion of a new era of grid infrastructure investment
- one which leverages advanced sensors, batteries,
analytics and electronics technologies to increase
the capacity, flexibility and resilience of the grid we
already have.

Typically, electric power resilience for microgrids is
defined as " how long can the microgrid support the
facility after the grid goes down? " Unfortunately, a
single deterministic metric is an oversimplification of a
nuanced, stochastic concept. The complexity in quantifying
and evaluating resilience, proposing new metrics
for resilience, and how to talk to site hosts about
what to expect from their resilient power systems is
the focus of this presentation.

by providing energy back to the grid in times
of need, while also delivering increased monetary
value to their owners through access to the energy
market. This presentation explores the evolution of
grid services from behavioral- and signal-based to a
truly dynamic, market-driven system, the proliferation
of smart devices, and the solutions the two present
when integrated effectively to bolster grid flexibility
and resiliency.
❯❯ BPL Edge Computing on the Low
Voltage

Edge computing is a new paradigm that relocates
cloud data processing to its source, reducing latency
and energy consumption. This new form of distributed
intelligence is now being applied using broadband-power-line
(BPL) deployments in digitalized
energy grids. The upcoming generation of G.hn BPL
semiconductors have enough processing power to
provide distributed optimization of DER on the low
voltage part of the electric grid. This form of distributed
intelligence is vital to harmonizing energy
fluctuations from renewables being integrated into
the grid. Current case studies and applications by
leading Green Energy Majors (European utilities at
the forefront of distributed energy management) are
features of this discussion
