ACs 27-1 and 29-2 MG 23, AFGCS
Installation in Rotorcraft
This proposed guidance recognizes the Radio Technical
Commission for Aeronautics documents RTCA/DO-325
and RTCA/DO-336 as acceptable methods for establishing
compliance to install automatic flight control guidance and
control systems in rotorcraft. Comments are due Oct. 7, 2013.

ACs 27-1 and 29-2 MG 17, Guidance on
Analyzing an AdFC System in Rotorcraft
This proposed guidance provides certification guidance
for installation of an AdFC system in rotorcraft. An AdFC
is a flight control system that utilizes or replaces mechanical
parts in conventional mechanical flight control systems with
electronic parts. Typical systems include fly-by-wire and flyby-light. This MG describes acceptable guidance for analyzing
an AdFC system to determine compliance with all applicable
sections of Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Parts
27 and 29. Comments are due Oct. 21, 2013.

AC 20-167A, Airworthiness Approval of
EVS, SVS, CVC and EFVS Equipment
Draft AC 20-167A is for airplane and rotorcraft
manufacturers, modifiers and type certification engineers
seeking certification or installation guidance for their visual
display system. AC 20-167A applies to all applicants for
a new type certificate, an amended type certificate or a

supplemental type certificate who install vision systems
and equipment. The method of compliance described in
AC 20-167A can be used to obtain a TC, STC or ATC
for an airplane or rotorcraft equipped with enhanced
vision system, enhanced flight vision system, synthetic
vision system or combined vision system equipment.
AC 20-167A describes system performance, provides
methods, procedures and practices acceptable to the Federal
Aviation Administration for complying with regulations, and
addresses specific installation guidance for vision systems
on an airplane or on rotorcraft. This AC also provides
EFVS safety standards and sample flight test considerations
for EFVS operations conducted to 100 feet HAT (height
above touchdown) and for EFVS operations conducted to
touchdown and rollout. Comments are due Oct. 15, 2013.

AC 120-78A, Acceptance and
Approval Of Electronic Signatures,
Electronic Recordkeeping System
and Electronic Manuals
This draft AC provides guidance on the acceptability
and approval of electronic recordkeeping systems and
electronic manuals that may be required by 14 CFR. After
the FAA accepts or approves an electronic signature,
recordkeeping and/or manual system, that system may
be used to generate aircraft records, such as load
manifest, dispatch release, aircraft maintenance records,
maintenance task cards, pilot training records, flight
release, airworthiness release and flight test reports, when
these records can be properly authenticated. Comments
are due Oct. 3, 2013. This draft advisory circular can be
