ment. Prior approval for performance-based navigation
must be held, or it must be applied for in conjunction
with RF approval.
RF segments are an optional capability and not a
minimum requirement. The RF leg is defined by the
arc center fix, the arc initial fix, the arc ending fix and
turn direction. They provide a predicable and repeatable ground track and can be used to maintain appropriate spacing with other aircraft having the same
speed.
The aircraft must have the appropriately approved
equipment onboard in order to perform RF procedures. This may be shown by the OEM of the aircraft
by publishing information in the AFM to include
statements indicating the aircraft meets the requirements for RF legs in RNP operations and minimum
capabilities has been established. The OEM may also
indicate the aircraft meets the requirements of FAA
AC20-138B, AC90-105 or EASA AMC 20-26 and has
information in the AFM that includes any conditions,
constraints, normal and abnormal procedures, demonstrated configurations and necessary limitations. If
the OEM has not approved, the operator must obtain
approval for the aircraft systems to be used.

The ability of the navigation system must be to
carry out the RF leg transition and maintain a
track between two fixes. The lateral total system error must be within 1xRNP of the path
defined for at least 95 percent of the total flight
time for each phase of flight.
The RNP system must provide visible alerts
(within the flight crew's primary field of view)
when loss of navigation capability and/or loss
of integrity are experienced.
Any failure modes that have the potential to
affect the RF leg capability should be identified.
The ability of the aircraft to maintain the
required FTE after a full or partial failure of the
autopilot and/or flight director should be documented.
The autopilot or flight director must have roll
steering that is driven by the RNP system.

tor and autopilot must be able to command a 25
degree bank angle above 400 feet and achieve
this bank.
8. The flight guidance mode should remain in
LNAV while conducting the RF leg when a
procedure is abandoned. This will enable the
display of the deviation and positive course
guidance.
9. ICA information must be provided for the system.
10. Information can be added to the MEL for the
aircraft if required.
11. A flight director or autopilot must be used when
flying an RF leg.
The navigation database used must meet the requirements associated with the terminal and approach
authorizations for which RG legs will be conducted.
The database must come from a source that complies
with DO 200A or EUROCAE ED 76. The navigation
system should not permit the crew to select a procedure that is not supported by the equipment installed.
It should also not allow selection of a procedure
requiring an RF leg when the aircraft is not equipped
with the proper equipment.
Operational procedures must be revised to include
RF information and training requirements. The aircraft
information and operational information is submitted
to TCCA for approval.

Transport Canada Reissues AC 600003 covering TAWS Regulations
TCCA has updated the advisory circular regarding
the requirements to have a TAWS system installed on
aircraft used in 605, 703, 704 and 705 operations. The
information in this advisory is now consistent with
the regulations promulgated July 4, 2012. The AC
makes it clear that TAWS equipment is required on
aircraft built after July 4, 2012, immediately, and all
other affected aircraft must have the TAWS equipment
installed by July 4, 2014. Enhanced altitude accuracy
requirements must be installed by July 4, 2017. The
