"The next morning the reason for his sudden urge to ﬁnish early was apparent.
We came to work and were notiﬁed to prepare for a medevac. Unfortunately, only
one doctor was available from our mission, so we had to dispatch one Kodiak to
pick up a doctor from another nearby mission while we readied P2-SID for the
medevac."
The team discovered it needed to load all of the electrical equipment, including
the heart monitor and suction pump, but because of the patient's weight and
accompanying personnel, the aircraft could not carry the additional batteries to
power the stretcher.
"Thankfully, God gave our coordinator the urge to ﬁnish early," Marsden said.
"The installation of the receptacle to power the medical stretcher sled had been
completed. Because of this, the patient was able to receive the necessary medical
care while on the ﬂight to Australia."
While SIL Aviation focuses on keeping the organization's aircraft ﬂying, the
men and women who volunteer their time and talents help support a much broader
mission. SIL's language documentation and translation efforts help promote higher
literacy rates, encourage education and improve the standard of living for the
people of Papua New Guinea. Now, that's a good day's work. 
