Occupants can use any iPad, iPod or smart device to control
the seat through a Bluetooth interface and at the same time keep
their device charged with a wireless charging system for the seat
occupant's iPhone, iPod or smart device. The seat also allows
advanced functionality of the tablet through the company's
patented TIM.

"The Trilogy ESI complements the new Enstrom glass panel
by mirroring the layout of the primary display," said Ralph
DeMarco, vice president of sales and marketing for L-3 Aviation
Products. "This translates into increased safety in the event of a
primary failure, helping the pilot easily transition to a familiar
layout of critical flight data. With an excellent safety record,
Enstrom owners and operators can enjoy even greater peace of
mind with the Trilogy standby."
According to the company, the Trilogy ESI-2000 is an
advanced solid-state standby instrument that makes the allglass cockpit possible, replacing the three analog standbys that
normally accompany glass avionics. Trilogy provides attitude,
altitude, airspeed and optional heading data on a clear, 3.7-inch
digital screen. By presenting flight information in an easy-toscan layout that mirrors the primary displays, the instrument
facilitates a quick transition to backup flight information in an
emergency, while reducing weight and saving panel space.
Emergency operation of the Trilogy ESI is achieved through
the use of high-energy density lithium-ion battery technology.
Favorable self-discharge characteristics allow the battery to
maintain a charge over long periods of disuse with little to no
energy loss, while its excellent power-to-weight ratio provides
high output with minimal added mass. Following emergency
use, the battery is recharged by the aircraft's electrical system
with no need for removal or inspection. Its maximum capacity
is monitored by the ESI computer, which notifies the pilot when
replacement is necessary.

TrueNorth Avionics
TrueNorth Avionics introduced its TrueNorth Stylus Wi-Fi
handset, Stylus Wi-Fi, a cordless version of the company's
TrueNorth Stylus corded handset. According to the company,
the TrueNorth Stylus Wi-Fi handset is designed for performance
while offering flexibility and ease of upgrade. It is the aviation
industry's only handset capable of recognizing the cradle in
which it's been placed, where location-based technology then
configures the handset to a specific profile.

APPS IN FOCUS
This year's NBAA Convention had one thing rarer than the
introduction of a vacuum-tube powered avionics package - a
charts-and-plates vendor hawking a paper solution. Digital
production also is coming to dominate companies specializing
in creating company flight-department manuals, pilot-operating
handbooks and operational specifications.
Rapidly growing in the place of paper are applications for
taking into the cockpit a tablet loaded with all those documents.
The aviation community started swinging toward digital more
than a decade ago, but the migration gained both momentum
and capabilities after Apple unveiled its first iPad back in April
2010. Yes, just more than three years - and the future of untold
populations of trees looks much greener. This year's event
brought a number of advances in iPad apps highlighted below.

Corp. has selected its Trilogy ESI-2000 Electronic Standby

ARINC Direct
ARINC Direct updated its iPad app to version 3.0. This adds
"a host of document-management functions that simplify flight-
