AvaJet of Texas
RON HULL, master mechanic and quality assurance manager for AVAJET
OF TEXAS,was the latest recipient of the Charles Taylor Master Mechanic
FAA award. TIM SHAVER, avionics branch manager, AFS-360, and JIM
HEIN, FAASTeam program manager, Las Vegas FSDO, presented Hull with
the award at the Maintenance Committee Meeting of the National Business
Aviation Association annual convention in Las Vegas, Nev.
The Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award is named in honor of Charles
Taylor, the first aviation mechanic in powered flight. The Charles Taylor
Master Mechanic Award recognizes the lifetime accomplishments of senior
mechanics. Taylor served as the Wright brothers' mechanic and is credited
with designing and building the engine for their first successful aircraft.

Rockwell Collins
ROCKWELL COLLINS unveiled
RealFires, a new targeting training
solution that uses both real and
virtual environments to train users
of Rockwell Collins' targeting technologies.
RealFires provides realistic day
and night targeting simulation,
with the flexibility to include a mix
of live, artificial intelligence-based
and programmed role players. The
system also is capable of including remote role players in flying
aircraft.

Rockwell Collins also unveiled
its ProSim ultra contrast projector,
providing the visual refinement
and reliability to take simulation
and training to the next level of
realism.
According to the company, the
new projector enhances simulation through a native contrast
ratio, using patented technology
to simultaneously display darker
blacks and lighter whites than any
other projector on the market.
ProSim's new Intensity
Management System maintains
constant brightness over the
lifetime of the projector by adjusting the lamp's power supply to
the lamp to compensate for bulb
degradation, and keeping maintenance requirements to a minimum.
