officer for the company. DeHerrera

access to optional Class A TAWS,
ADS-B Out compatibility with select
third-party transponders, and scheduled

Cobham
COBHAM announced the S-TEC
5000, the latest advancement in flight
control for higher performance jet and
turboprop aircraft. The S-TEC 5000 is a
three-axis configurable autopilot, which
will allow for fully digital or combination
digital and analog interface. It will be
certified to DO-178 Level A software with
DO-160 testing to meet the requirements
for Part 25 aircraft.
According to the company, the S-TEC
5000 will include typical functionality,
including heading and nav hold, altitude preselect, course intercept, indicated airspeed

hold, vertical speed hold, GPSS and control
wheel steering. In addition, the autopilot
will offer three-axis trim capability, straight
and level recovery, envelope protection and
altitude step down sequencing during an
approach. The two later features require a
compatible EFIS, such as the Cobham IDU450 or IDU-680 displays. Additional EFIS
integration allows for display of autopilot
annunciations, heading and altitude bug
control and flight director depiction.
