Last fall, founder of Glencoe Aviation, Todd Yerby (center), took a photo with his team outside the repair station's main hangar, which
was damaged by Hurricane Ida in August.

and private operators. Most of the Robinsons that we
service are working birds. They're either used for flight
training, pipeline control or agriculture, specifically cattle
farming and alligator hunting. We also service a lot of
aircraft that are used for aerial tours and aerial photography.
We'd like to stick with the commercial aircraft because
they fly more regularly. "
Most of Glencoe Aviation's Robinson customers fly
newer equipment, meaning the technicians spend most
of their time updating software and replacing broken
components. Still, some operators request installations.
" Avidyne is coming out with some great new products, "
Yerby said. " Aspen is a low-cost solution to glass. A lot of
the commercial operators don't use Aspen's avionics, but
general aviation pilots do. It's affordable for them. They can
get into glass inexpensively and pretty quickly, so we're
catering to that market. "
In addition to helicopters, Glencoe Aviation, an
authorized Cirrus service center, also maintains fixed-wing
aircraft. Yerby and his team plan to pursue certification on
the Cirrus Vision SF 50 light jet soon.
" Our Cirrus technician knows them inside and out, "
Yerby said. " We have Cirrus aircraft come to us from all
over the Southeast. We even had one in from California for
a pre-buy inspection. We're waiting on Williams to give us a
line maintenance class on the Cirrus Vision engine. "
