April 1, 2022 What makes this project unique? This 172 also is equipped with the Air Plains 180HP engine upgrade. Did you encounter any problems while working on the project? Designing and hydro-pressing a 5-degree canted co-pilot panel. A 1966 Cessna 172H with a standard panel did have a few upgrades already done (IFR GPS and iPad mount). How did you resolve these problems? By using specific methods of forming and heat treatment. What did you learn from this project? How well the Air Plains, Avidyne, and Dynon products work together. What was the customer's response? He was extremely happy with the investment and personalization of his better-than-new 172, and he could leave his aircraft at one shop and have the avionics and engine upgrade done at the same time. Any additional comments about this project: Being able to design, fabricate, powder-coat, and laser engrave the instrument panel in-house is a huge timesaver and delivers a better product to the customer. q The Air Plains branded 172XPα " Advanced " instrument panel with upgraded 180HP engine.
