A HYBRID APPROACH
TO AET PREP
s avionics professionals should already
know, the latest endorsement to the aircraft
electronics technician (AET) certification
is now available. Earlier this year, ASTM's technical
committee F46 on aerospace personnel developed the
brand-new aircraft electronics installation technician
standards, otherwise known as the AEIT.

endorsement, or the AET certification
for that matter, you can learn more

Brown, the AEA's director of workforce
development, shares the ins and outs. You
can also get up to speed by reading " The
ABCs of AEIT " by Dale Smith in the
September issue of Avionics News at

the online modules, students will then attend the
one-day review session in person and take the AET
certification exam at the AEA's Dan Derby Center for
Professional Development. By enrolling in this hybrid
course, the $175 exam fee is included in the course
registration.
Immediately following the in-person review session,
the AET certification exam will be
administered with a two-hour time limit
to complete. The exam is 90 questions,
multiple choice, and students must correctly
answer 73% of the questions to pass.

Of course, there are multiple ways for avionics
technicians to study in advance and prepare for these
certification and endorsement exams. And now there's
another approach available to industry, as the AEA has
developed a brand-new AET Prep Course and Exam that
uses a hybrid model.
Here's how it works. Students who register will
have access to online modules to self-study the AET
coursework before attending a live class on Jan. 17,
2024, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at AEA headquarters in
Lee's Summit, Missouri. The online modules take
approximately two weeks to complete. After completing

attain AET certification, as the Federal
Aviation Administration has formally
recognized it as equivalent to formal
training when showing eligibility for the
issuance of a repairman certificate. With
a new hybrid prep course, the association is offering
yet another clear pathway toward achieving the
industry standard to recognize qualified and competent
individuals.
