Conservation Committee
Resources Display Unit

We are excited to announce that we are
dovetailing the legacy materials information from the Resources Display Unit
(RDU) into the Materials Selection and
Specification Working Group (MWG).
The history of the working group can
be found on the American Institute for
Conservation (AIC) wiki. Although
still in its early stages, the MWG will
become an online portal for info on materials-everything you'd want to know,
plus bibliographies; as well as a tool to
help people decide what to choose. We
are still committed to providing physical materials samples for the membership booth, and we are working with
University Products to assemble a small, portable case of
preferred materials.

website.

How To Series

We are rebooting the How To series from the old website.
These topics should fit on one page so that they can be
printed and disseminated easily. They instruct people of all
levels how to do a specific task. The info will be added to
the SPNHC wiki. You can print from the wiki, but we will
want to upload the info as a PDF as well so that it is easier to
print. We will embed the official SPNHC logo with it to give
it more authority. We will partner with institutions who have
developed similar materials. We will also draw from the Stabilize This! workshop presented at the 2012 SPNHC meeting
hosted by the Yale Peabody Museum.

Eventually we would like to produce a series of short demo
video clips to include on the wiki. Once we have multiple
topics covered we will seek funding to produce the videos so
that they are all of the same high quality.

Emerging Professionals Committee
At SPNHC 2019 we had a successful Emerging Professionals Committee meeting, with some attendees expressing
interested in volunteering and becoming more involved.
The SPNHC Emerging Professionals Committee (EPC) also
hosted its annual Emerging Professionals Luncheon, which
was very successful. Ten established professionals attended
the luncheon and led group discussions at tables, with the
main theme being conservation.
At the luncheon and during the committee meeting, we
discussed areas in which the EPC can collaborate with other
committees, such as Membership and Professional Development. We have also been in touch with the LOC for SPNHC
2020, suggesting ways in which we can serve our members
better.
