Society for the Preservation of Natural History Collections March 2020 - 7
Society Reports
ping down at the upcoming annual meeting in Edinburgh,
Scotland, after five years of service. To ensure a smooth
transition, currently contributing members of the Best Practices Committee were identified as new co-chairs. Emily
Braker (Collections Manager of Vertebrate Zoology, Museum of Natural History, University of Colorado Boulder)
and Genevieve Tocci (Senior Curatorial Technician, Harvard
University Herbaria) are meeting with the current co-chairs to
transfer knowledge of current goals and past successes of the
committee.

Jessica Cundiff and Breda Zimkus, Co-chairs
Bylaws Committee
The Bylaws Committee is responsible
for the continued development of the
society bylaws, monitoring society
activities to ensure agreement with the
bylaws, and for periodic updates to the
Leadership Manual of the society.
Bylaws
No changes have been proposed to the
society bylaws.
Leadership Manual
A major overhaul of the Leadership Manual (LM) was initiated owing to the rollout of the new SPNHC website. All 14
standing committees' LMs were altered from a PDF and posted via an active format. Standing committee chairperson(s)
were responsive to these updating efforts and took the opportunity to make significant changes to their respective LMs.
The majority are finalized with a remaining few in the final
stages. Updating efforts are now shifting to the sessional
committees. This overhaul project was done with integral
help from committee member Laura Abraczinskas.
Discussions are ongoing with the Archives Committee on the
transferring of updated procedural documents.
Respectively submitted,
Linda S. Ford, Chair
