During the pandemic, the Collections
Stewardship Professional Network
CS-AAM listserv has been an important
source of collections care information
and means of just staying in touch
with our colleagues (https://www.
collectionsstewardship.org/listserve). In
addition, the CS website (https://www.
aam-us.org/professional-networks/collections-stewardship/)
contains links to useful resources including a program " On
Decolonizing Museum Collections, " and the long-awaited
updated " Code of Ethics for Collection Professionals. "
Details for nominations for the biennial Dudley-Wilkinson
Award of Distinction for museum professionals who demonstrate
the highest standards of excellence in the profession
will be announced later this spring-watch the CS website
and listserv for details.
The mentorship program for new museum professionals
(jointly run with ARCS) is always looking for both mentors
and mentees https://www.collectionsstewardship.org/mentoring.
A recording of a webinar introducing the newly updated
General Facility Report is available at https://www.collectionsstewardship.org/the-updated-general-facility-report.
Respectfully
submitted,

Consortium of European Taxonomic
Facilities
In May 2021, I attended the first CETAF board meeting
as SPNHC representative in place of Paul Mayer, SPNHC
President. Following the meeting, Eva Häffner, member of
CETAF's executive committee, and I became liaisons to
strengthen the cooperation between both societies.
Over the summer and fall, individual interactions and exchanges
occurred with Paul, Julian Carter (SPNHC Presidentelect),
Ana Casino (CETAF Executive Director) and Eva
Häffner to get to know each other and explore shared topics
16 * SPNHC Connection
and first starting points.
Strong connections already exist between
SPNHC and CETAF members in
the area of access and benefit sharing
(ABS). Here, Eva Häffner and Gabrielle
Dröge (GGBN) invited me to CETAF's
and GGBN's Mobilise COST Action
and SYNTHESIS+ workshop on " A
Loans and Permits Data Standard for Scientific Collections. "
I presented the outline for an ethical and legal framework,
which is the outcome of the alliance for biodiversity knowledge
2021 consultations' topic focusing on " Meeting legal/
regulatory, ethical and sensitive data obligations. " Involved
in the development of the framework were SPNHC members
Andy Bentley, Libby Ellwood, Dirk Neumann, Mariko
Kageyama, Breda Zimkus and me, as well as Alex Hardisty,
Chris Lyal and Andra Waagmeester from Europe. During the
workshop, Breda Zimkus and I moderated the well-attended
break-out group on " Technical implementation. " The workshop
was one step in a GGBN and CETAF-led initiative for a
standard-developing TDWG task group on " Permits & Transactions, "
including SPNHC and CETAF members.
Last fall, CETAF invited SPNHC to attend its anniversary
50th board meeting in November. I attended for Paul Mayer
and introduced SPNHC in a morning session highlighting
CETAF's cooperation partners, together with GBIF, BGCI
and the BHL. In preparation for the presentation, Julian Carter,
Dirk Neumann, Eva Häffner and I met for a productive
and animated discussion of corresponding committees and
working groups in both associations, as well as complementary
differences, which combined can foster the achievement
of goals shared by both organizations. Having invited CETAF
working groups to connect with corresponding SPNHC committees
during the talk, Laurence Bénichou, co-chair of CETAF's
ePublishing working group contacted me. A meeting
in December 2021 brought together members of SPNHC's
Best Practice and Publications Committees, and the co-chairs
of CETAF's ePublishing working group, Laurence Bénichou
and Isabelle Gerard. As a result, we are currently planning a
joint workshop on best practices for citations of information
content within publications (eg., authors of taxon names) and
licenses for the reuse of data and information within publications.
If possible, we would like to hold the workshop in
association with SPNHC 2022 this summer in Edinburgh.
Thus, currently cooperations between SPNHC and CETAF
concentrate on science-policy advocacy focusing on the
monitoring framework of the UN Convention on Biological
Diversity's post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework, as
well as infrastructure development towards the implementation
of ethical, social and legal rules in data management and
