Society Reports
provided an engaging workshop about contributing to Wikidata,
ORCIDs and Bionomia. A follow-up workshop with the
Herbarium Information Systems Committee (HISCOM) was
then held to assess how agents are being disambiguated and
linked to identifiers, and how agent data can be shared more
effectively between herbaria in the region. An Australasian
Specify Community Users Group has been established for
conversation and " local " advice. Many collections are now
looking at indigenous ecological knowledge data within collections,
and how best to share (or not share) such information.
Several members of the collections community retired
or have taken new and exciting career paths in 2021; we
thank them for their valuable participation in MAHC, and
warmly welcome all of our new members.
The development of new strains of COVID-19, community
exposure rates, and continued restrictions on travel within
and outside of Australasia mean that the community is looking
forward to joining the SPNHC 2022 hybrid meeting
remotely.

The Paleontological Society
The 2021 meeting of The Paleontological
Society (PS) was held during the
Geological Society of America (GSA)
meeting in Portland, Oregon, October
10-13. The GSA meeting was a hybrid
of both in-person and virtual activities.
The newly reformed PS Collections
subcommittee did not convene during
the GSA meeting, but members have been meeting on a
regular basis since last March. The subcommittee has several
action items in the works:
* Providing feedback on the GSA Ethics of Responsible
Geologic Field Work document.
* Working on a similar ethics document on fossil collecting
and collections.
* Drafting a survey for PS members to determine the resources
and activities the subcommittee will focus on.
* Creating a Collections Information Hub where paleontologists
can go to find information relating to fossil collecting
and museum collections.
* Drafting proposals for a technical session and short
course on collections for future GSA meetings.

The next meeting of PS will be held during GSA in Denver,
Colorado, October 9-12, 2022.
