Roger Wittum is a recipient of the 2022 Industry Leadership Standing
Committee Award for consistently serving the industry and providing outstanding
leadership to National Crop Insurance Services (NCIS) and the crop
insurance industry. The award was presented during the 2022 Crop Insurance
Industry Annual Convention last week in Indian Wells, California.
Wittum has been a leader within the crop insurance industry for more
than 20 years, 15 of those with his current employer. As a field claims manager
for NAU Country, he was instrumental in the development of many new
adjusters in the industry, and many of them have become the next generation
of industry leaders.
In the field claims manager role, Wittum was very active in NCIS regional/state
committee activities. Serving as a plot leader, he organized training
programs regardless of the logo on the cap. As his career developed, and with
his even demeanor and steady hand, opportunities lead to a national level
position. This strategic role, which is focused on the Crop-Hail program, lead
him to serve as a member of the NCIS Crop-Hail Policy, Procedure, and Loss
Adjustment Committee for the last 10 years.
The Crop-Hail program has evolved and grown immensely in the last 10
years. During this time, Wittum was a trusted voice of sensibility when products
were changing, and procedures were being penned in the industry for
loss adjustment. He achieved all of this, while being true to the American
farmer and rancher, as well as to the industry, and to our reinsurance partners.

offered industry wide. The procedures that are placed in the claims professional's
hands are paramount, and Wittum played a significant role in that
development while serving on the Committee. Lastly, he has always been a
strong advocate for NCIS sponsored research programs conducted through
the land grant university research system.
Wittum is a great mentor. He leads with a calm and quiet confidence that
is highly respected.

Ruth Fulford Receives Crop Insurance Outstanding Service
AwardRuth Fulford is the recipient of the 2022 Crop Insurance Industry
Outstanding Service Award, which was presented during the 2022
Crop Insurance Industry Annual Convention this week in Indian Wells,
California. The Outstanding Service award recognizes an individual
who provides outstanding service to all farmers, including outreach to
small, limited resource, and socially disadvantaged farmers.
Fulford has been in the crop insurance industry for many years.

She worked for the Patricia Leggett Agency in North Carolina where
she learned the importance of assisting farmers with risk management
decisions. When the agency owner decided to sell the business to Flatlands
Insurance Group, Fulford was given the opportunity to lead the
crop insurance department at the new agency.
Since 2015, Fulford has helped make Flatlands Insurance Group a
premier crop insurance agency in the state of North Carolina. In an
