2021: Accomplishments
in a Virtual Reality

2021 began right where 2020 left off...in the
midst of a global pandemic with many people
living and working in a virtual world. The events
of 2020 forced people to learn very quickly how
to operate behind a laptop with a built-in camera.
Many of us learned more about Zoom and
Teams than we ever thought we would. And
while there were some hiccups along the way, we
got pretty good at it over time. While 2020 was a
lot of " let's just get through this, " 2021 saw most
of us perfecting the art of working in a virtual
reality world.
Events, training conferences, and other activities
of National Crop Insurance Services (NCIS),
conducted on behalf of the membership, were
all held virtually in 2021. Towards the end of the
year, some outside activities that NCIS staff and
other industry representatives attended were held
in-person. Through it all, NCIS staff worked hard
to deliver quality meetings and training with the
results showing many great successes. A record
number of company employees -adjusters, trainers,
supervisors, and others-were able to login
and attend the loss adjuster schools, committee
meetings, and train the trainer conferences.
Here is a look back at some of the 2021 activities.

CONFERENCES
2021 Claims Manager
Conference
The two-day NCIS Claims Manager Conference
was held in January with approximately
340 claims managers, supervisors and Risk
Management Agency (RMA) personnel tuned
in. NCIS staff discussed updates to the 2021 Prevented
Planting Standards Handbook and Loss
Adjustment Manual Update, explained changes
to Crop-Hail, and Federal loss handbooks,
and addressed CAPP and licensing changes.
