NCIS Hosts Committee Leaders
2022 Regional/State Chairman

The 2022 Chairs of the 18 NCIS Regional/
State Crop Insurance Committees met in Overland
Park, Kansas, in late March for training and
instruction. These committees are critical to the
communication flow within the industry and are
organized for the purpose of identifying issues
that need attention and making recommendations
to the NCIS Board of Directors.
While the elected Chairs provide leadership
and direction, the real strength of each individual
committee comes from the committed participation
of all its members. All NCIS member companies
are strongly encouraged to actively participate
in the committees in the regions/states
where they write business.
NCIS provides annual training for the
Chairs of these committees to ensure they understand
their role and are effective in accomplishing
their responsibilities. Specific instruction
is provided on:
* Antitrust laws and compliance;
* Importance of industry agronomic research;
* Planning and conducting effective meetings
and summer schools and field days;
* Making recommendations to improve policies,
procedures or conduct research; and
* Parliamentary procedure.
A popular and important component of the
session includes a round-table discussion on current
events, conditions, regional issues and hot
topics from every area of the country. Issues from

water availability for irrigation in much of the
western United States continues to be a concern
in 2022. Not related to weather, but how insurance
coverage will be affected due to higher cost
and availability of inputs is on the minds of many
