Create visiting scholar opportunities for junior and mid-level faculty that are clinician educators and enhance their chances for promotion. Provide outside expertise and enhance continuing education for pediatric anesthesia faculty. Cultivate relationships with pediatric anesthesia divisions at other institutions to facilitate academic collaboration on clinical and research projects. Dr. Niroop Ravula from UC Davis, Michael Lennig, MD, from Stanford and I soon realized that the ViSiPAP faculty exchanges between UCSF, Stanford and UC Davis could also include the pediatric anesthesia fellows. These combined Faculty/Fellow ViSiPAP exchanges between UCSF, UC Davis and Stanford pair a pediatric anesthesia fellow with a faculty mentor. Both travel to the hosting institution as visiting scholars to meet the fellows and faculty and each give a presentation at an afternoon pediatric anesthesia fellows and faculty conference. Topics for the presentations are strategically chosen based on the visiting faculty and fellows' expertise and the educational gaps of the hosting institution. These Faculty/Fellow ViSiPAP exchanges benefit the faculty, but are also an innovative way for the pediatric anesthesia fellows to develop focused areas of expertise and provide them with opportunities for extramural presentations as visiting scholars. ViSiPAP welcomes the fellows into the pediatric anesthesia community, introduces them to other pediatric anesthesia faculty role models and Annual Publication 2019 | 91
