Publisher's R NOTE ecently the readers of USA Today named El Dorado the Best Small Town Cultural Scene in America. What a wonderful recognition from one of the top news sources in the world. Awards such as this don't just happen without a lot of planning and work. It's no secret that for the past decade our community has been working to develop an arts and entertainment destination to attract visitors as well as to stimulate our economy. Millions of tax dollars along with a wealth of private funds have been invested to create world-class venues suitable for all types of entertainment. Years of planning and organization have brought us to a place where others, like USA Today, are taking notice. This major recognition is not the end to our work, but another step along the path to becoming a well-known destination for years to come. It is important to note that our current situation is a result of those who came before us. Visionaries created an atmosphere within the community that inspires change and allows us to reach new heights. We stand on the shoulders of the people who produced opportunities and made El Dorado a thriving and well-respected place to call home.
