Alaska
The Alaska State Society of Orthodontists
(ASSO) held an annual
business meeting on March 26,
during which we reviewed our
bylaws, policies and procedures, and finances.
The ASSO has completed a legal review of the
updated bylaws and is in the process of seeking
member approval of the new bylaws. We have
confirmed Dr. Christian Kenworthy as our speaker
for the 2022 continuing education program. We
are looking forward to hearing from Dr. Kenworthy
after a two-year delay.

Alberta
It has been a very interesting and
challenging year for all as we grapple
with the ongoing COVID-19
pandemic. At this time, members
from the Alberta Society of Orthodontists (ASO)
are all back to work, following the workplace
guidelines provided by governing bodies. Back
to work does not mean back to normal, but the
guidelines provided do allow us all to effectively
see our wonderful patients in a safe manner.
The 2021 annual meeting (AGM) scheduled for
March 2021 was canceled because of the uncertainty
surrounding COVID-19. The AGM meeting
occurred on March 18, 2021, and was hosted virtually.
The ASO Executive is looking at all options for
the 2022 meeting.
The ASO has again waived all fees for the 2021
cycle. This means that, once again, there is now
no cost to become a member. We encourage all
interested to take advantage of this, as this is the
time when your membership matters the most.
The current main topic of discussion at the ASO
is COVID-19 practice management and back-towork
protocols. The ASO Executive has been in
many discussions with the provincial ADA&C
leadership regarding this issue, and ASO input
was incorporated into provincial guidelines.

Arizona
The Arizona State Orthodontic Association
(ASOA) is excited to officially
announce this year's annual
session scheduled for December 6,
2021. It will be held at the Phoenix Country Club
with guest speaker Jason Cope, DDS, PhD, FACP.
Dr. Cope will review the latest in digital treatment
planning with temporary anchorage devices. We
are excited to welcome Dr. Jason Cope to Arizona
for his lecture and to be able to reunite with our
colleagues.
Fall marks the beginning of another great year of
continuing education for the Arizona Orthodontic
Study Group (AOSG). This fall, the AOSG will hold
monthly sessions starting in September with
guest speaker Dr. Hesam Rahimi. As one of the
first and longest continually meeting orthodontic
study groups in the country, the AOSG not only
continues to gather industry leaders as a resource
for its members but will also continue the tradition
of providing valuable continuing education
for its members in areas ranging from business
management to CPR training.
This past summer, the Arizona School of Dentistry
& Oral Health Postgraduate Orthodontic Program
welcomed five new residents into the orthodontic
community. New residents are just beginning their
orthodontic education, while the Postgraduate
